OUR FAVOURITE PLACES

Our favourite places:

Dorchester – Durnovaria town walk

A bustling market town noted for not only being the County Town but also the birthplace of famous author and poet, Thomas Hardy.

Just a 7.5-mile journey from Weymouth with plenty of parking for car drivers or easily accessed via Train or Bus services, a trip to Dorchester is well worth adding to your holiday itinerary. There’s plenty to do in this history-rich town. The town hosts many museums including the recently redeveloped Dorset Museum, The Keep Museum and the Shire Hall Museum.

Our pictures (kindly provided by Didier Sajno) show a snippet of what the town has to offer, they include: The Borough Gardens, River walks, Hangman cottage, Roman Town House, Frink Martyrs statues, Thomas Hardy Statue.

When you’ve finished exploring the sights, Dorchester’s town centre has over 400 shops and businesses, an excellent place for a spot of shopping, lunch or refreshment. Definitely worth a visit for a jam-packed day and one of our favourite local places.
